St Patricks Parade - Wantagh 3/17/24

Post by Raj »

Not to be confused w the traditional Bay Shore event.... but any takers on a another parade , but this time in Wantagh? Supposedly ' the largest on LI'.
Per the website
'The largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Long Island will be led by our Grand Marshal and Wantagh native John Theissen. '

Parade Starts at 2pm.... maybe some food/ drinks after?

I’m always down for another event, it’s a good excuse to get out and do something. This parade has always looked like fun, I’d be down for sure - and it’s i
in a Sunday, which is even easier!

I'm a maybe. I have a conference in Florida that week and I'm supposed to fly home Sunday. Right now the plan is to come back early in the morning so as long as I have time to get there, I'll be there.

My people.

There is over 180 units marching in the parade. We are with the other Cars ( Model A's, Cadillacs, DeLorean, Road Runner Club, Wantagh Golf Cart club... wtf is that! and lots of bikes), towards the tail end of the parade.

We have to be at Wantagh HS by 1230, so let’s meet at noon At Dunkin.
1148 Wantagh Ave, Wantagh, NY 11793

The parking lot is on the NW corner of Wantagh Ave and Rt 105 ( aka Jerusalem). We will Dunkin lot at 1220, prompt.

There is also a Starbucks across the street, and great pizza place all in that lot. I plan on grabbing some slices for the family for while watching the parade until we are ‘ up’.

Parade steps off at 2, and since the ‘block party’ is at 4, I estimate we can watch the parade for about an hour.

Anyone coming from out east, that wants to meet me at my place, feel free. Im leaving my place at 1145.

Sounds good. My car died last night, will have it patched up tomorrow night. Need to go through the plugs and timing. But shouldn't have an issue.
I'm excited! Hopefully we have good weather.

Probably won't make the Dunkin meetup so we'll most likely see you at the school around 12:30

I haven't planned anything. Everything local will be absolutely jammed. The ' block party' afterwards would be the place to go if you want to continue the festivities. Just be mindful of the parking limitation.

See you'll soon!

Absolutely planning on going into town to get something. We’ll find parking somewhere, we may have to walk a bit. It is what it is!

Wow, this parade was huge. We learned what to do for next year. I think this could be a really fun one if we do the "tailgaiting" thing next year.
