don't think so.....there was definitely a respray at some point....what looks like "patina" in the pic might just be some dirt or road dust

Minnesota....practically in Canada. 3 hrs. north of Minneapolis....car's originally from Texas though.

Did you guys really see that Silverado on Shipping Wars? Delivery has been delayed until Friday but I'll ask the guy. If it rings any bells, the company's name is For His Glory Transport....and it's not for the glory of the owner. Or of alpacas.

Oh...and Raj....if you're reading.....I had a little "experience" with the stock Kadron linkage on the way home last night. The bent piece in pic below that connects the left linkage arm to the center mount popped off while I was doing 70 in the left lane of the LIE near Woodhaven Blvd Scary shit.....the pedal went dead, I had no acceleration and the shoulder was on the right. Luckily drifted over, messed with the pedal (the pin sometimes pops out but not this time) while the car was being shaken by trucks driving by 2 feet away to the left AND right on the other side of a concrete divider.



I read that the stock linkage will sometimes do that and can be "secured" with zip ties but I figured f**k that, I don't want to rely on zip ties. I just ordered the SCAT linkage from Kaddie Shack. From what I've read it's safer, simpler, and more reliable. We'll see.

Dan, there is a white pick up on shipping wars, but then again theres also a white pick up 6 houses down... I dont know if thats the same one, it would be nearly impossible to know without seeing the driver, and I dont recognize the name; even with its creepy Jesus name...

That is scary. My Kads ( that i mentioned i'm installing on the 74 thing this weekend if all goes as planned) also has the same linkage. The end used to pop off all the time, and I thought it was simply bc they were worn. I have secured with with zip ties in the past and will do so again until I get a new linkage. I know its a PITA, but this is complete BS considering your linkage were brand new. Unacceptable.

BTW... good to see you and the car last night. Sorry I couldnt hang out longer, daddy duties.
The car sounds great but start saving for the 2L!

I see....I thought there was something special about this particular white pickup. How 'bout my shipper's logo? Doesn't that make it special?



And Raj....I just added 3 hours a day to my work schedule this week so daddy duty or not, I didn't have much left in the tank.

As for the linkage, other than rocker arm shims I think that's my first experience with an EMPI product. I don't have enough experience w/ enough of their stuff to unilaterally say they suck but so far, they kinda suck.

Even though I have the SCAT linkage on the way, this one looks good too....a bit pricey though when you convert from Euros to Dollars and add shipping from Germany....

Anyone know offhand what size nut and bolt are needed to secure the positive battery cable to the battery terminal?

I'd assume it's a M8 with a 13mm nut.

Tell me about it....luckily I was going fast enough and traffic was just light enough that I could coast over 3 lanes without that much trouble.

I got my new SCAT linkage in the mail yesterday. Will try to get it on in the coming days as I also find the "feel" of the stock linkage kind of sucks.....looses adjustment quickly and it's finicky based on engine temp.

best linkage for kadrons is "scat" they will never pop off....you will need to remove the case stud no big deal...Matt

I've got the Scat linkage on my kitchen table right now. I checked out your thread. Looks like you have springs on the throttle arms on each carb. The kit only comes with one. Where'd you get your springs and are they a certain length and tension?

Thanks for the tip. My only lingering question is how do you tell when you have too much or not enough tension on the throttle arms? I'm guessing that if it's a little off then the throttle plates won't close enough or that the gas pedal will feel crappy?

Totally unrelated question for anyone:

I'm sure the answer to this is "it depends" or "it's hard to say" but I'm wondering if the Bug In tends to be a good place to pick up parts or are the prices at shows usually too high and not worth it unless it's a really hard to find thing?

I need some boring stuff like a vent window, window scrapers, and other odds and ends which are pretty easy to get online but I figure it'd be more fun to buy stuff at a show b/c I could see it first. But if "as a rule" shows tend to mean price gouging then I'll just do online.

Opinions or experiences anyone?
