leaky windshield

Driving home from work yesterday in the rain (yes, my '62 T1 is my only car and I use it every day), my windshield starts leaking on the left side right near the defroster vent-just a few drops but enough to make me concerned. I could inject some black silicon caulking under the seal but I know it's just time before it starts leaking elsewhere. Does anyone know of someone who replaces seals on our cars and can do it in one day (a Saturday?). I read on Samba that one could do it themselves but I also read of horror stories where the windshield breaks or still leaks. Since my glass is intact and original, I'd like to keep, just change the rubber. I'm still working on my '66 and it is not yet road (or license plate) worthy.

Gary, whatever you do DONT USE SILICONE CAULK!
The silicone holds moisture at a chemical level and causes rot. The windshield on your car is SUPER SUPER easy.
Do it right.
I work Saturdays, but if you buy the seal we can work out when to meet up, it's a 20 minute project.

^^ X2 against silicone. My first car (76 Chevy) had rust holes around the rear window. I sealed it up with silicone, and the rust really accelerated.

Who sells the best windshield rubber? I looked through TheSamba but couldn't get a consensus other than try to buy German (which I always try to do). Same thing with the windshield itself (I tend to be paranoid and would probably buy a spare windshield just in case it breaks!)

Get the rubber from Wolfsburg West. They supply most of the rubber you would buy elsewhere anyway - so cut out the middle man.
Don't buy a second windshield. It's not likely to break. The people that break them are the people that never roped in windows and force it. It's a ver gentle, and simple install. We will be "slapping" at the window a bit, to give some vibrations which help it settle but there won't be any force on the window itself.
While you're at it, consider buying new window trim if your car had it originally.
Make sure your new seal has the cut for trim if you buy new window trim.
