1961 Pedigree Pram

Post by ObnoxiousBlue »

StingRays and Kirby's aside for now. My friend Carmela (you're likely more familiar with her 73 bus) is expecting her first child, while I'm hoping for a boy - you know so I have someone to watch Saturday morning cartoons with and raid the fridge for cereal while mom and dad sleep.
She has always wanted a vintage pram (baby buggy)
She knows nothing of this new project, but doesn't check here so we should be safe.
Picked up this (seemingly 61) Pedigree Pram about a month ago on CL. It was living up in Lowell Mass. so a friend from Salem grabbed it and brought it to West River Wesites. Keeping it under wraps, and out of photos (that I would likely be tagged in - thus spoiling the surprise) was a trick.

Got the pram all stripped down, and have begun refinishing it.
Doing a color change from navy/cream to black and white.
The tub will be metallic black (with a very fine fleck in it) with a white stripe. The interior is a waterproof tailored white damask. The top is going off to Tijuana on Monday for a black exterior white headliner. The chrome work will all be redone in smoked nickel and a new set of tyres are being molded by a restoration shop in the Netherlands.
Planning to have it done by October to give it to her before her shower.

You can do that with a girl.

You won't get cooties.

The kid might be of legal drinking age by the time you get it back... from previous history. Just ask bill about his door panels.

You are so thoughtful. It will be such a treasure for her to have. Can't wait to see the resto. Will be beautiful. Always love them too.

:P
Keep working at it and it gets done!!

Like the commercial says- I'm a Big_kid now! It must be true, because I'm definitely not little anymore.

Very cool mike! My wife wanted one of those but never found one, there neat cause u can just lay the baby in, no straps or harness, and the can sleep laying on there back, or gasp. Belly. Have fun, although it's probably not going to be as fun as making the baby!

Finished the pram tonight. I do need one more bolt for the brake, and I need to paint the wheel center caps. But, it's all back together.
Body was repainted, all the metal was replated, some accent pieces done in gold. New tires, interior, mattress, and top.
She still doesn't know about it, but I'll probably give it to her this week since I missed the shower.

Pretty serious ride there.

This came out much nice than the Schwin.

Slam it on earlies.
This is the DVG forum. We do not tell people how to post here. Go play in the kiddie pool if you don't like it.

That is a thing of beauty, I bet it's the best one in existence. Much nicer than new, and MUCH nicer than what's out there today I'd bet. That's one lucky baby to ride in there.

Saw the video of the reveal. It was very sweet. The pram is a real cadillac for the wee one. Nice gesture on your part, Uncle Mikey!!
