I did have the transmission replaced at 21k, but they gave me a brand new one and replaced the tranny cooler and lines. In talking to the Subaru rep, they wanted the tranny untouched by the dealer to do fault analysis. They never have problems and that was evident but the fact they had to fly a replacement from Japan since they didn't have another in the country. Other than that it was great. there few a few minor things i didn't like, like the fact you couldn't have am and fm stations on the same screen. And the indicators for the HVAC were hard to see at night and impossible during the day. Both of those, along with some other minor stuff has been corrected. The 2018 is a totally new design. The interior is larger, the engine more powerful and the ride is nicer. The smartphone integration is also better.

I've owned 4 Hondas and have had issues with all of them. Finally i decided to switch and the Subaru's AWD and best in class safety was what made me switch.

After all, I was hit by a 60,000;b garbage truck doing 35mph and slammed into a stopped F150 and walked away.

Seems pretty safe to me.

Jess's 2014 Subaru Outback Drive, handles, Sounds and brakes Just Like a Boston Whaler! Aside from that no problems, I did f/r Brakes and tires on it and oil changes 45,000k on it, It has had the classic Nippon Denso starter bushing noise since about 10,000 miles the same issue on some toyotas, i dont care to take it to the dealer for the runaround its only on first start, only time it was at the dealer was for a free first oil change and squeeky serpintine belt which was a tsb whch I told them about and they said they couldnt duplicate problem and they "adjusted belt tensioner" it has no adjustment haha .. I ended up replacing the belt myself no problems since, the problem was the vinyl subaru logo they put on the backside of the belt every time it rubbed against the tensioner it would make a squeek.. subaru has had known torque converter issues and have extened tranny warranty to 100k, Subaru along with honda have had automatic tranny trouble for the last 20 years, not like nissan tho. I would give subaru a thumbs up overall as far as quality and Definatly saftey which they learned from Saab when they owned part of Saab for a while.

Love my Toy..... 128k on the clock.... never needed anything but a rad. Built two houses with it, while as my commuter, family hauler, beach fishing, dump runs, VW rescue etc.

Love these cars too. Had 100k on her sante fe, put 50k on a 2003 elanta, and 50k on a 01 elantra. Only issue was the fuel sender on the sante fe. I'll get another one soon im sure

Great statistics. But how many cars did they sell in that 10 years compared to other brands? I'm not bashing Subaru. My point is if a car ,truck,suv or a cross over is reliable it's comparable to another vehicles reliability.
