Re: ATV jack

I have one from Pep Boys that I use. Actually bought it for my ATV. Tried it on the VW and works well. But to be fair I've never pulled an engine and not had the car on a lift. So doing it on the floor may be different.

Re: Swing axle boots

Ed, I already tried them. They "have" 4 but they can't find them. Raj thanks for the offer but I'll order them if I have to wait.

Swing axle boots

Does anyone know of a local parts house that carries replacement swing axle boots? I'll order them if I have too. Just hoping to score some locally to save down time.

Re: Battery in daily driver

I have Optimas (red tops) in everything I own. Except my diesel Blazer which has huge deep cycle marine batteries. The oldest is now nearly 7-8 years old an still going strong. Expensive, but I've yet to have a complaint other than that.

Re: Anyone have a lathe?

In a pinch you could glue a rubber band strip around the wheel. It will ride on the strip alone reducing your contact/friction area but keep the weight.

Re: 1973 Westfalia

That sounds to be almost identical to the reverse light wiring and setup of my 67. As they utilized stand alone back up lamps that year. Iits also a very popular way to add back up lights to an older car. t's a plunger type switch that looks very much like a brake light switch but there are some ...

Re: Kenny Scharf

No offense intended, but if it's a Baywindow I'd say go for it. If it's a split I'd think twice. A super nice Baywindow bus still barley cracks into decent split bus territory. I look at it this way. Baywindows are similar to late model Beetles and Supers. Still cool, still VWs. But they just don't ...

Yes it is. More so because as with any used engine. It's a gamble between how honest the seller is/was and your diagnostic ability at the time of purchase. I felt good then, and feel even better now.

Re: 1967 Beetle

So over the last few weeks. In my spare time I've been prepping the 68 1500cc Single Port engine I picked up earlier this year to go in the Beetle. It was very complete, and very period correct. And having been a late 67 build for the 68 model year. It has many 67 specific goodies on it. I began by ...

Carb rebuild kits

Can anyone recommend a supplier or maker of a good carb rebuild kit? I have a Solex 30 PICT 2 and a 30 PICT 1 I need to rebuild. Figured I'd ask before I just order one. Any local spots carry them?

If it's anything like any other VW ignition switch which there's no reason they wouldn't be. The ignition switch is separate from the ignition lock.

Re: 1967 Beetle

So as most of you know, I refurbished and installed a trailer hitch on my 67. Ever since I've been itching to use it. So yesterday an oppurtunity arose. Friend of mine from work offered up a much needed free couch. So I hooked up my homemade trailer and Tiff and I went on an afternoon adventure ...

They very well could be stainless. And I doubt they are VW specific. I just suggested that as a start for your search.
