Re: 83 mexibug
Hey folks it's been a while, but I'm back on the road, current inspection and all that jazz. I did disc brakes, dual master, outer tie rod ends, ball joints, sway bar brackets. Found some covered up rust and other shady shit but I'm driving it again so that's awesome. Life slows stuff down but ...

Re: 83 mexibug
Wow! Who knew a wife and three kids really eat up your free time! I finally was able to swap out the single resovoir for a double this weekend. Aside from the heat, it went ok.

Thanks. Wiring them together seem to be the norm on the samba, did find a thread from a guy in Australia? http://images.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/997823.jpg

Single to dual reservoir brake switch
Am I a stupid crazy dangerous hack if I only install one brake light switch in my master cylinder, the fronts, and get a brass plug for the rear? My Mexican bug only had a single reservoir master and one switch.

I finally acquired all the pieces to use those spindles I got from u last winter for my disc conversion. Believe me I know how life can get in the way. Planned on waiting till it got really cold. My truck showed 12 degrees this am. Haven't started yet.

Re: 83 mexibug
Good points. I thought about building some sorta beam stand so I could clean it up and paint it all pretty like. This is all going to be done in my single car garage with the car in it so I think the car will make a good beam holder. I set my budget at 300. I stopped when the cart was 364.

Re: 83 mexibug
So I have first hand knowledge that Santa will Bring me a front disc brake kit from cip1, minus the spindles, also upper and lower ball joints, and torsion arm seals. Would it be easier to just remove the front beam? I'm concerned about not being able to move the car, although once it's apart, in or ...

Thanks Mike. I won't be doing this my self. Was hoping someone "had a guy". The paint was never in great shape but again, not knowing anything about car finishes I'm hoping someone can get something decent out of what's there.

Anyone know a place I can take my bug, with it's minimally decent crap paint job, to be buffed, or polished, or compounded. I don't know what any of those process really are. I waxed it but the shine did not last. Then, after a few cold ones, while power washing my deck with all-purpose power wash ...

I added to someone's post on thesamba. Just watching stuff yesterday I noticed this, should it be adressed. Thinking/hoping I can just keep an eye on it. It's the original to me fuel pump. Thought I'd share with the locals.
Like like slight leak or ooze out of fuel pump ...

I just came in from poking my mexican, I'm confident I felt where top anchor goes by the window, and I totally got to second base but over the headliner. Off to google some more, thanks mike.

Childs booster seat
So my 3 and 5 year olds have out grown there car seats and are now in booster seats, these all require shoulder and lap belts, my bug has lap only in the rears. I've read on the samba that there might be mounting holes under the head liner for shoulder belts, but I haven't looked yet. Anyone here ...

It helps that everything is metric, with my 5 yr old, get the shiny wrench with the 1 and 3. It takes several minutes but eventually you get what u need. the 3yr old just grabs a hammer, she knows that's the one I'll end up using!

All these build threads do is show me how much of a hack I am! That is a clean thing! I'd prefer to support my flaps, but I usually don't get much confidence from the people in those stores, I'll check out rock-auto.

Very cool mike! My wife wanted one of those but never found one, there neat cause u can just lay the baby in, no straps or harness, and the can sleep laying on there back, or gasp. Belly. Have fun, although it's probably not going to be as fun as making the baby!

Awesome! My wife told me this weekend if I sell my boat and bug I can get a bus. Trouble is I don't have a garage big enough to work on one. Suppose I should work on a bigger garage first, then fill it. Anyway congrats, hope ur family enjoys it.
