Re: 68 Bug
It's your accelerator pump. Make sure the tube is pointed in the middle of the carb throat and not touching the wall. Make sure fuel is not seeping out of the pump on the side where you replaced the diaphram. Make sure the little tube is not clogged and that it is tight in there. There is an ...

Re: 1965 13 window Deluxe
Have you thought about hitting the primer with oven cleaner and 000 steal wool to see what's left of the original paint on the door?
Don't know how bad it was scratched up when it flipped, but it would be fun to see.
The door was replaced with a green one under the primer so it needs to be re ...

Re: 1965 13 window Deluxe
So I have been driving the hell out of my bus since September and have put over 2300 miles on it. Most recently I took a trip up to Buffalo, NY with my three brothers. We did about 1100 miles in the 3 day trip with only 1 minor breakdown. Luckily I had lots of tools and parts with me so we were back ...

whats the story with the roof dents?
It slid on the road for a couple of hundred feet She didn't get cut off, the wind blew her over ... maybe several feet. The only way a VW could slide that long is if it's being towed!!

Funny you should ask. The mother was coming back from visiting her daughter in college in 1969. On a highway in Ohio she was cut off and put the bus on it's side. It slid on the road for a couple of hundred feet apparently and the ...

1965 13 window Deluxe
So on the Saturday before the hurricane when everybody was out trying to buy water and D batteries, I was out buying a bus. This is a 1965 13 window deluxe with 67,139 miles on it. I purchased it from the original owner who bought it new in 1965. It was located in their summer house so the bus never ...

Looking real good! When you replace the tarboards make sure you put all of the spikes through it so it holds tightly against the firewall, otherwise the fan will suck it in.

Re: AoT's White Wonder
I have a plastic one you can have.
This is what DVG is all about.
thanks Jim, I'll take the offer. I have to order the seals that go under the front hood handle, do I need to order any clips or other hardware to use with the plastic glove box?

I have a plastic one you can have. Just don't cut that cable or white tube on yours because you may need to re-use it.

This is great and could only help to grow our club even bigger that it has already gotten in such a short time.

You can put any VW key that fits in the cylinder and the grind off the tabs that still stick up and that key will now work for that cylinder. I've done it when I had door handles that didn't match the ignition and lost the keys for them.
